All India SWM Toppers from 01.06.13 to 28.07.13 - Hulikal crosses 6000 mm in just 58 days

Hulikal is a village located in the Hosanagara taluk of the Shimoga district in the Indian state of Karnataka and is known for its heavy rainfall. In SWM 2013, Hulikal was the fastest to 2000 mm jointly with Talacuvery and was the fastest to 3000 mm, 4000 mm, 5000 mm and 6000 mm rainfall. It has been getting minimum 150 mm rainfall or above in a day and thereby crossing the 6000 mm mark for this SWM in style. Hulikal is the fastest to cross 6000 mm in SWM 2 times in last 5 years. It has been split verdict with Cherrapunji. Hulikal's first 1000 mm took 17 days but the next 41 days it has got 5000 mm. This SWM, Hulikal is all set to cross 10000 mm with nearly 63 days to go.

    Excellant list!.Hulikal had recieved 5022 mm till 23rd July..After that it has recieved close to 1100 mm rainfall in just 5 days..could you please give the breakup of rain for these 5 days.Also can you publish rainfall data for 24 hours on daily basis?

    Amgaon has got around 3600 mm till 17th July. Further details are not available

    Puttur till 28th - 2491 mm
    Subramanya till 28th - 3564 mm
    Karkala till 28th - 2919 mm

    Hulikal was not 5022 till 23rd. It was 5220 mm till 23rd. I have corrected it my blog.

    Till 23rd - 5220 mm (270 mm on 23rd and crossed 5000 mm mark)
    24th - 178 mm
    25th - 125 mm
    26th - 280 mm
    27th - 165 mm
    28th - 141 mm

    Local supplement of ' The Hindu' says Makkandur in Kodagu has received upto 300( 7540mm) inches of rainfall. http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-features/tp-districtplus/the-agony-of-the-monsoon/article4957336.ece

    Its not clear. All stations are clubbed together and we cant judge the quantity to a particular station.

    @Pradeep John Today I enquired with the Hindu, 300 inches is the sum total of the rain received around Makkandur and not of one station

    Many places in Kerala too would have got heavy rainfall. But the data is not available.

    Atlast i got the source of Makkandur station. Till Feb 2013 i have rainfall data from 2009.

    Its not a very wet place like hulikal. Whenever i get the figures will update you.
